Kelechi Iheanacho says the Super Eagles 2-0 win over Iceland will give the team the much-needed motivation and confidence to beat Argentina in the last Group D game on Tuesday.
Iheanacho admitted to TheCable that Argentina are a good side and will be desperate for a win just like Nigeria.
“I think winning today [yesterday] is going to give us a big motivation and confidence to play against Argentina,” Iheanacho said.
“But of course you know that they are a good side and they desperately need to win like us. I think we need to do everything possible to beat them.”
The Leicester City forward recalled what went through his mind when Iceland were awarded a penalty in the 82minute.
“First thing I did was to look at the time and it was about 80 something minutes,” he said.
“I was confident that even though they scored we will come out victorious but they missed it. We came to the occasions and won the game. It was our day.”
The Super Eagles will face two-time champions Argentina on Tuesday, June 26 in their last Group D 2018 FIFA World Cup game in St. Petersburg.
