President Muhammadu Buhari played host to Yusuf Bichi, director-general of the Department of State Services (DSS), at the presidential villa in Abuja on Thursday.
Bashir Ahmad, personal assistant to the president on new media, posted pictures of the meeting between both men on Twitter.
This is the first time Buhari and Bichi would be seen publicly since the head of the secret police assumed the headship of the agency.
Bichi’s appointment had sparked criticism across the country.
Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo had appointed Mathew Seiyefa as acting DG of DSS following the sack of Lawal Daura as a result of the invasion of the national assembly by masked DSS operatives.
Buhari was in London on vacation while Osinbajo acted in his stead. But the president appointed Bichi in substantive capacity on September 13.
