QUESTION:What are you holding unto that is depriving you of your next level? Enakhena asks

How is it that preaching what opens the door of grace, gives us what we don't deserve, is growing to become history in the church today? What is that one thing God is interested in about us His children? Who was Job before he encountered that trouble? What seed did he sow that enabled God's answering of his prayers? Apostle Benson Enakhena has again tortured ignorance with answers to these questions and more.

With the following scriptures: Luke 6:38; Mark 12:41-44; 1 Kings 17:7-16; Proverbs 14:31; 22:9; 28:27 and real life narratives, Enakhena unearths never-could-have-known reasons why we shouldn't be too poor to give in the message: Don't be too poor to give.

Truth erases ignorance from the heart of a man ruled by God. The truth in this message is preached to wipe out the thinking of being too poor to give from the mindset of those whose heart is a kingdom ruled by our Lord.

As preached, below is the message.

Do you know that in our generation today, some have so much relegated themselves to the background believing they have nothing to offer. Do you agree with me on this? Even some financial big men are too poor to give. How? When you go to a big man before you say anything, he has told you how his container got stuck in the sea, how his son hasn't been able to pay his school fees, and how he hasn't been able to sleep for three days. He is too poor to give. Look at your neighbor and say to him or her "don't be too poor to give". On being too poor to give, even the altar itself is not excluded. Some servants of God are so anointed that they can no longer give. All they do is just prayer. If you are not giving, expect nothing from God. No man is too poor not to give. It is in our mindset that we are too poor and not in the spirit that we are too poor to give. When you rule your project that this is what you will spend in a month, God will stamp it for you and you can't have more than that. Let's look at Luke 6:38 and in there in the beginning, did the bible say you will just be giving unto? There's an instruction. You must have a key for you to be able to open your padlock...even if you are the owner of this auditorium, if you don't have the key to the lock you cannot enter. There is an instruction that says give! And reading further it says good measure, do you know what that means? some will say that food is getting spoilt let me go and give it to Michael's mother before it rots, her children have not eaten. God will also look for that which is rotten to give to you. Whereby you will find that someone will give you a Toyota Corolla that is filled with so many problems because you have done the same thing to somebody else. Give a good measure! That thing you value very much, give it to that your neighbor that doesn't have. Some of us have made our giving to the church alone. We bring clothes to the pastor and your siblings don't have clothes to wear, you bring food items to him  just so he will like you and you are well aware your neighbor has no food in his or her house. Who are you deceiving? A pastor can only pray but it takes God to answer! Why did God answer Job? Before Job entered into that trouble he was a crazy giver. The seed Job sowed before he encountered that trouble is what he harvested when God answered his prayers. We are so poor in heart to give, that is the reason why we are praying no answer, we speak in tongues no answer, we fast and no answer. May God have mercy upon us.

Mark 12: 41 - 44  And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:
For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living. Can you see that God is interested in your giving? When you are giving your offering Jesus is sitting on this altar watching you. Do you know what He is watching? What you have and what you are giving. Till tomorrow He is still doing it. The two mites the widow offerred was all she had in life. Now where I am going to is, why didn't she offer one and keep the other one? But what did she do? She gave the whole two. All that she had was that two mites. That is a crazy giver. What is the ten percent of one million naira? A hundred thounsand. Now what is the hundred percent of one hundred naira? Hundred naira. Then I have one million naira and this my sister her has hundred naira and we come to the church today and I bring out the one hundred thousand and drop it inside the  offerring box then my sister drop the hundred naira that she has into the offerring box...who gave the highest? God knows your income! That is what Jesus was analysing here. He knows when you are giving out of nothing and when you are giving little from much. Some of us when we get to church or on the way we take our children to buy Bobo drink and biscuit then we give them five naira balance remaining and say use it for offerring. When the child grow up he will be begging for favour, you are the cause of  why that child is not favoured. You are the problem of that child. Look, I analysed it one day, when you meet some pastors that the Lord has not opened their eyes beyond the physical, after praying they will tell you your mother is the cause of your problem, your father is the cause of your problem. It is not that they are a witch or wizard, No. The sins that they committed is working against their children. I analysed something to my sister yesterday. Four days ago I was sitting in my parlour, I was not even praying, God just gave me a message gbam. He said do you think I joke with the iniquity of a father that moves to the children for four hundred years? He said let me analyse it for you: When the Israelites sold away Joseph, when Joseph forgave them, did I forgive them? I said Father you forgave them. He said if I forgave them, why did they spend four hundred years in Egypt? Is that not my four hundred years? He said because Joseph was not part of it, I allowed Joseph to die before a wicked king came in. But those that sold Joseph enjoyed him but their children sufferred for what their father did. You have one million you cannot pay the school fees of your neighbor's children, you cannot help anybody in your neighborhood, you seem to yourself too poor to help anyone.

Quickly let us go to the widow of Zarephat. "1 Kings 17:7-16  And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.
And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying,
Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.
So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.
And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand.
And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die.
And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.
For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth.
And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.
And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah.",
Let me tell you something, some will say oh, this man he has cancer, he needs five million naira and you have five thousand naira, commit your one thousand into it. Don't say is it not only five thousand naira that I have? What can my one thousand naira do to that five million? No. Commit it. That man that has one billion and brought one million out of it, you are better than him. Don't be too poor to give! Someone with only a handful of meal is going to attending to a stranger's request of a water to drink...and here we are, some of us our situation makes us miserable that we will be roaming on the street frowning our face...looking for whom to put the anger of poverty on...are they the cause of your problem? Be joyful God is doing something unknown to you. Ask your neighbor, what are you holding unto that is depriving you of your next level? This widow was having only a handful of meal left for her and her son, giving the handful meal stopped her from starvation. Giving it out. Too poor to give. Why are we so too poor to give? You have only two bottles of water in this house and you heard that a baby needs water, aggressively you say:don't give anyone my water, let them go and buy. Then you go down on your knees praying for favour? from who? Devil or God? Some of us on our way to church we have five thousand naira in our pocket and a neighbor comes to us to seek for a help of one thousand five hundred naira to be able to attend to his or her child's health-need. We would say please today is Sunday wait till tomorrow. You cannot give out one thousand naira to give to that neighbor of yours but you go to church  dancing to the altar waving your money for people to see what you are giving for offerring and some will say oh look God is really blessing that man...God will not bless any man that does not bless the poor!! If you see a stingy man that worths one billion naira, you should know that there's a giver worth over a hundred billion naira. Naked we came into this very life and naked we shall most assuredly go. In another hundred years, who amongst us here will be alive? If anyone of us here is alive in another hundred years, our children will be calling us witches and wizards. We become a liability. Our children that are suppose to be looking after their children, would still be looking after us. In another hundred years,  where will you be? What will happen to this money you are gathering? What will happen to the houses you are building? The cars you are buying today, will they take you to heaven? We gather the wealth and refuse to give the poor. You can be wealthy and you are too poor to give. Poverty is a mindset. It is not of the spirit. Even to our father and mother, we say: is it only me they gave birth to? Please I will be giving him or her five thousand naira, let others give. Know that you have your own children and they will grow.

Open to Proverbs 14:31 "He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.", Do you know how you insult a poor? Some of us, in the compound we live in, we deliberately buy cars to block the whole place because every other person living there have no money. You wake up 5am in the morning and open your car down, playing a very loud music. You are already insulting the poor. Even in the church, some people when they dress very well on Sunday, they will not come into the church until the time of ministration so that members of the church can hear the sound of their high-heel shoes. God have mercy on us.

Proverbs 22:9 "He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.", What is a bountiful eye: Oh my sister you are not wearing any earring. I have two in the house let me give you one. A bountiful eye is an eye that sees the problem of others above his or her own. You must not have the whole world to give. He that cannot share from a little will not be able to share from much. Prayer only give you what you deserve. Giving gives you what you do not deserve. Giving opens the door of grace and grace is unmerited favour. Giving breaks the protocol of blessing. Ah that man is too selfish, if you go to his office he doesn't give more than five thousand naira...because you have given you have broken the protocol. By the time you enter the office, he whispers to you saying take don't tell anybody. When you go out of the office and say the man gave me hundred thousand naira no one will believe you. You have open the door of grace to yourself. If you go to the book of Isaiah chapter 58, It says the people are lamenting that have we not prayed? Have we not fasted? Why are we not heard? The Lord answered and said when you fasted and you refused to give to the poor, why will I answer you? Even in the church these days, preaching giving to the poor is growing to become history. This is not about giving to the church, give to the poor, remember the poor in your compound. In some compounds there are clicks. Do you know the clicks? Those that have cars become friends, those that don't have and are trekking become friends, those that are drinking garri become friends...they become clicks in a compound. Some will not greet you so that they will not give you a ride as you go to your place of work.

Proverbs 28:27 "He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.", Then ask yourself, why am I lacking? Why are my stranded? Why are my finances locked? Why is my business locked? Why is my career locked? Some of us we have procedures to giving...we say Michael said he has a problem and needs five thousand naira, I need your idea...Michael said he needs that, what are you saying about it? As a pastor if you come to me to say somebody needs money and you ask me what I think...I will chase you away. Do you know what is reigning now? You are walking on the road and an accident happens, then you are videoing instead of calling for help. When you get your own accident somebody will video it just as you did for someone else.
